5 Year Anniversary Match


The Cincinnati Dockers and Louisville Cats will play in the
on Saturday, September 29th in Louisville, Kentucky, almost five years to the day
from the INAUGURAL AUSSIE RULES game played in the US in September, 1996.

Its amazing to see how far the United States Australian Football League has come in just 5 years. With nearly 500 games now played, 35 registered teams and over 1,000 registered players in the league Australias favorite sport continues to go from strength to strength in the US.

I and everyone at Louisville are truly excited to achieve 5 years of competition between the two clubs and are proud that Louisville and Cincinnati continue to perform strongly stated Trevor Church, Louisville Cats President.

As a founding team, were also proud to be a part of the 5 year celebration of Australian Rules Football in the US added Todd McClamroch, current Cincinnati Dockers President. Our team is excited by the growth of footy in the US over the past five years and look forward to what the next five years and beyond will bring added Todd.

Being involved with Cincinnati from the beginning, it fills me with a sense of pride and almost disbelief that in just five years weve come so far stated current USAFL President, Richard Mann. Mr. Mann was instrumental in developing the Cincinnati club, hosting consecutive National Championships from 1997-1999, playing on the victorious 1997 team and now resides in Denver, being a part of the 2000 National Champion team.

Members of both clubs will get together on Friday, September 28th, to watch one of the biggest sporting events in Australia, the AFL Grand Final, being telecast live throughout the US on Fox Sportsworld. The two teams will then take to the field on Saturday, September 29th to re-enact that historical game from 1996, in which Cincinnati came away with a victory.
