2014 West Regional Championship

The 2014 West Regional Championship tournament is set for Saturday, September 13. All the action will take place at Harbor Sport Center, 1221 N Figueroa Place, Wilmington CA 90744 with first bounce scheduled for 9 AM. Participating men's teams will be Los Angeles Dragons, San Diego Lions, Seattle Grizzlies, Golden Gate Roos and Orange County Bombers. A women's west region team made up of players from Sacramento, San Francisco and Denver will take on the St Albans Spurs an Australian women's team on tour in the US. An umpire's clinic will be held on the Friday night, September 12 at 7pm at the Holiday Inn in Torrance.

Field Location:

Harbor Sport Center in Wilmington CA, 1221 N Figueroa Place, Wilmington CA 90744.

Be aware that that the parking spots are metered and parking is enforced.

USAFL Lodging (required):

There are two options (Torrance, Long Beach), comparable quality and equal distance (5 miles) from the field. Holiday Inn is the less expensive option. Hilton is more expensive and you have to pay for parking.

Umpires Clinic:

The Umpire Clinic will be held at the Holiday Inn in Torrance around 7:00 pm. Teams are encourage to have at least 1 participant each

Food:

Aussie Bakery on site (www.pie-not.com) serving food and drinks at the field from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm.

Special Guests:

We will be greatly privileged to host a Women’s team from Australia, St. Albans, on tour in the US. They will be facing a West Region representative team from the Suns (Sacramento), the Maidens (San Francisco) and Lady Bulldogs (Denver). http://stalbansspurs.com.au/

Administration:

Team captains must be present at the 8:00 am meeting at the field. Each team must provide a complete roster of players to Seb (Excel Spreadsheet, Last Name, First Name, Jumper #) before Thursday Sept 11 5:00 pm.  All players must report to the Command Center prior to their first game for ID verification. 50/50 rules will be in place. Goal Umpires must report to the Command Center to collect Score Sheets.  

Schedule:

All games 2x20 minutes, games must start on the hour. Field Umpires will be provided by USAFL. Field officials are Boundaries (2), Goals (2), Score Board and Time (1) and must be provided by the team listed below as “officials”.

8:00 am: Setup, Registration, Score Sheets, Umpires Schedule, Captains meeting

After Party:

Pedone's Pizza 1332 Hermosa Ave Hermosa Beach. They will be stocked up on Aussie Beers just for us. This is a great little joint near the beach and plenty of other pubs and night time activities. Award Ceremony will be held there at 8:00 pm. Be there early. (Regional Champion, Best on Ground men and women).
