A Revolution Descends Upon L.A.
52 aspiring Australian Football players are traveling to Los Angeles this weekend to participate in a training camp for the USA Revolution, the men's national Australian Football team.
The players, representing 20 different clubs affiliated with the United States Australian Football League, are hoping to show the Revolution coaching staff what they have to offer the program and to secure a position to represent their country.
The players will be put through their paces in several activities covering many aspects of the game of Australian Football. The activities include:
- Fitness testing;
- Drills to test player skills;
- Strategy sessions to work on the team game plan;
- Theory sessions on measuring and improving player fitness and game performance;
- Discussions on the laws of the game;
- Team building; and
- Preparations for the 2013 49th Parallel Cup and 2014 AFL International Cup.
"The camp is going to be intense and challenging, however it it will hopefully be educational and fun for the players involved", stated Revolution Coach, Matt Bishop.
"It is a wonderful privilege to be able to work with many of the talented Australian Football players from all over the United States. Players who want to be the best at a game that many have only picked up in recent years. The amount of commitment and effort demonstrated by these guys is nothing short of inspirational," concluded Coach Bishop.
