AFL to be televised on FOX SOCCER Plus in 2012
The AFL announced today that FOX SOCCER Plus will be the 2012 telecast partner in the USA. The three-year deal will include two matches per week being televised live as well as a weekly one-hour highlights show.
The first match to be shown will be the derby clash between Greater Western Sydney (GWS) Giants and the Sydney Swans on March 23 (televised in the US on March 25 4:20amET/3:20amCT/2:20amMT/1:20amPT) followed on March 30 by Hawthorn and Collingwood (televised in the US on March 29 at 4:50amET/3:50amCT/2:50amMT/1:50amPT).
The live telecast of the Grand Final is also a part of the arrangement.
Fox Soccer Plus is a premium high-definition subscription TV service in the US. The NRL and the A-League are the other Australian sports properties featured on the network. It is available on various cable and satellite TV providers in the US including DirecTV, AT&T U-verse, Verizon Fios, DIsh Network and more.
The move to Fox Soccer Plus for match broadcasts comes after two seasons with ESPN, which remains an AFL broadcast partner in several other international markets.
AFL matches are also streamed live, for a fee, through the AFL.LIVESPORT.TV website.
