BLAST FROM THE PAST - #10
The following match report comes from Kansas City. The KC Power have split the club in two for intersquad games. This allows all the players, especially those new to the game, to get some match practice. At the start of the season the club selected two teams that play each other every couple of weekends. The teams stay the same throughout the season so that players can concentrate on the one position and get used to playing with the same people.
As each clubs reaches that magic number of 25 to 30 players this approach is an excellent way to increase the interest of all the players and get in more games.

KANSAS CITY AUSTRALIAN RULES FOOTBALL CLUB
Affiliated Clubs: The Hornets Vs Thunder
Another great weekend for Aussie Rules. The 2nd of May saw the third match between the two KC Power teams, the Hornets and the Thunder.
Playing at a different location resulted in a late start with players getting lost. Even though everyone had a map. The first half was the hardest hitting and most physical game that both teams have had this year. The first quarter saw the Hornets kicking 2-3-15 to the Thunder 0-0-0. The second quarter was a more attacking one for the Hornets but bad kicking cost many goals. The half time score for the Hornets was 3-8-26. The Thunder got onto the scoreboard taking to their score to 1-2-8.
The second half saw the Hornets use of the ball around the ground much better than the Thunder. During the third quarter the Hornets kicked 4 goals taking their score to 7-11-53. The Thunder did not mark-up and allowed the Hornet players to get lose. They did, however, add one goal to their score taking them to 2-2-14.
The fourth quarter saw players on both sides getting tired. It also was a quarter for the Hornets forward pocket player, Bruno, who dominated by kicking 4 goals. With the help of Jason Eustice, Alex Rocco, and Stephen White moving the ball out of the centre, set Bruno up for four check side goals. It was great to see a player who was only playing his third game perform so well. Bruno ended up kicking 6 goals for the day.
Despite the score the Thunder did a exceptionable job. They have really improved over the last three games. And remember that playing on a small field means that every mistake can quickly become a goal.
The final score was: Hornets 11-13-79, Thunder 3-5-23
Best players overall: Mark Scott (Aussie), Jason Eustice (Aussie), Bruno(Canadian), Stephen White(USA), Alex Rocco(USA), Bruce Lundegren(USA).
Goal Kickers Hornets: Bruno 6, Stephen White 3,Bruce Sokol 2
Goal Kickers Thunder: Mark Scott 2, Bruce Lundegren 1
Cheers
