League welcomes new member of the Portfolio Board
Our Board is continuing to grow with talented members who share our goal of ensuring the growth of Australian Rules football in the US. We know that Kevin's expertise will assist us as we strive to attain our goals for the next 10 years which were agreed on at the 2007 Board Retreat:
- That the USAFL will be recognized as the best run amateur Australian Football league in the world, including Australia.
- To have 10,000 US participants in 10 years.
- To work towards having 1% of the population knowing what Aussie Rules is about.
- That the game remains community based.
Kevin's first encounter with footy was when he joined the then Philadelphia Crows (now Hawks) in 1999. In 2004 Kevin moved to Maryland where he continued playing after joining the Baltimore/Washington Eagles, where he has primarily played on the backline, but has occassionally seen time in the front pockets or on the wings.
A free-lance writer and editor, Kevin has been a staff reporter in Pennsylvania and later in Maryland with a subsidiary of the Washington Post. In over a decade of reporting, he has covered the professional sports beats of teams including the Boston Red Sox and the Philadelphia Charge of the now defunct Women's United Soccer Association, and interviewed NFL Films president Steve Sabol, as well as former Olympians Shannon Miller and Kate Sobrero. Currently he is the Maryland columnist for the Mid-Atlantic Brewing news.
Kevin lives in western Maryland with his wife and daughter.
