USFooty Pre-Season Top 10 Poll

WFN has recruited ten of the brightest minds in USFooty to vote on their Top 10 USFooty teams and then has aggregated the votes. We plan to have six more polls during the season concluding after USFooty Nationals on October 13-14. WFN will announce the winner of the USFooty Poll Premiership on October 1. The honor will go to the team voted Number 1 based on its 2007 regular season games.

Preseason Top 10 USFooty Poll
1. San Diego Lions (9 #1 votes)
2. Denver Bulldogs (1 #1 vote)
3. New York Magpies
4. Golden Gate Roos
5. Milwaukee Bombers
6. Boston Demons
7. Orange County Bombers
8. Baltimore Washington Eagles
9. North Carolina Tigers
10. Chicago United
Also receiving votes: Minnesota Freeze, Seattle Grizzlies, Arizona Hawks, Vancouver Cougars, and Nashville Kangaroos

The voters have bestowed preseason honors on the 2006 National Champion San Diego Lions (1). As one voter put it, they are number 1 until dethroned. The Denver Bulldogs (2) received the number 1 ranking from one voter and enough number 2 votes to have them nipping at the Lions heals. The top 5 is rounded out with the New York Magpies (3), the Golden Gate Roos (4) and the Milwaukee Bombers (5). Despite their close matches over the last few years voters have placed the Magpies substantially above their EAFL rivals the Boston Demons (6). The top 10 is rounded out with the Orange County Bomers (7), the EAFL's Baltimore Washington Eagles (8) and North Carolina Tigers (9). At the number 10 position are Chicago United (10) who recently announced a major sponsorship deal with DHL. United go into the 2007 season with heavy hearts after the recent death of Chicago stalwart Rich Noty.

The first big game for 2007 looks to be on June 9 when the BW Eagles (8) host NC Tigers (9). Both sides had break out seasons in 2006. This will be their second game of the year but the first for EAFL points. The next big game occurs on June 16 when Golden Gate Roos (4) travel down the coast road to take on San Diego Lions (1). July 15 is the date of the Western Regionals which promises the match up of the year with the Denver Bulldogs (2) hosting San Diego Lions (1). A game that is a likely preview the National Championship. We will hopefully also see the Golden Gate Roos (4) take on the Denver Bulldogs (2). In fact for top 10 matches this is the biggest weekend of the year, with the potential for the San Diego Lions (1), Denver Bulldogs (2), the Golden Gate Roos (4), and the OC Bombers (7) all to play each other. July 28 may also see a big game with Denver (2) traveling to Minnesota. Hopefully, we will see Denver (2) take on the Milwaukee Bombers (5). This is one of the few cross region match ups currently scheduled. The other is on August 11, when the New York Magpies (3) travel to Milwaukee to take on the Milwaukee Bombers (5) and the OC Bombers (7). Hopefully this weekend will also see the match up of the two Bombers - (5) v (7). This weekend of matches in Milwaukee is likely to have big influence on the voters as it is the only time before Nationals where we will see representatives from the West, the MAAFL and the EAFL competing. For me the second biggest game of the year will be on September 8 when the Boston Demons (6) travel to take on the New York Magpies (3) in the game that will probably decide the EAFL Premiership. These two teams have been so evenly matched over the last few years that this should be a corker. The last big game before USFooty Nationals promises to be the match up between the Milwaukee Bombers (5) and Chicago United (10) on September 22 in Chicago. These two Lake Michigan rivals have been going at it for years and I'm guessing both teams will leave it all out on the ground.
