Milwaukee Bombers Make Aussie Rules History

Milwaukee Bombers brothers, James and Jared Brunmeier made Aussie Rules footy history when they were named to play for West Perth Falcons against the Claremont Tigers in the West Australian Football League reserves competition this past weekend. Unfortunately Jared was not able to play as he had an ankle injury. As our first US representatives under the Bombers/Falcons scholarship program, James and Jared have been in Perth for pre-season training since the beginning of November, and although James played in the season opening game for the Falcons last weekend, this week provides the opportunity for both brothers to represent not only their new Aussie Rules club but also become the first US brothers to play at this senior level. WAFL like its Eastern States counterparts in SAFL (South Australia), VFL (Victoria), QFL (Queensland), NSWFL and TFL (New South Wales and Tasmania respectively) is the highest standard of State football in Australia and is immediately one step behind AFL which is the National competition. James and Jared are effectively playing in the third highest level of our great game. Truly a history making achievement for the boys and for their US home team, the mighty Milwaukee Bombers.

Congratulations to James who was named one of the best on ground.
