49th Parallel Cup and National Team Tryouts
The United States Australian Football League (“USAFL”) is proud to announce the first of three national team events for 2007. January 20, 2007 the US Revolution, the United States National Australian Rules Football team, will battle the Canadian National team, the Northwind, at Tom Bass Park (Fellows Road, Houston, Texas). US Revolution Coach Trevor Lovitt will lead the Revolution against in Northwind in the annual battle for the 49th Parallel Cup.
The game also marks the beginning of the US Revolution’s march towards the 2008 International Cup in Melbourne Australia where they will look to improve on their 3rd place finish in 2005. This weekend will feature the best American Australian Rules Football players in the country trying earn a spot on the 2008 International Cup squad. Over 80 players have put their hand up for the 2008 squad and the weekend's games will be the first opportunity for many players to impress the Revolution coaching staff.
Their will be a curtain raiser game at approximately 11 a.m., followed by the 49th Parallel Cup at approximately 1 p.m. There will be a BBQ in between the games which will feature authentic Australian meat pies provided by Mojo Pies (www.mojopies.com). So, come out, learn about an exciting sport, and cheer for your country.
The week prior to these games will include USFooty Kids clinics at select Houston area schools.
