Trevor Lovitt Announces Revo Assistant Coaches

US Revolution Head Coach Trevor Lovitt is proud to announce his assistant coaches.  Tom Ellis,  Michael “Mick” Ablett and Jason Becker will be working with the Revolution moving forward.

Tom Ellis:  Tom, a former player and co-captain of the Revolution, has played 23 international matches for the Revolution.  Tom won the National’s ‘most consistent’ in both 1999 and 2001.  He resides in Denver and currently serves as the head coach of the Denver Bulldogs.  Tom coached the Revolution in January of 2006 in Los Angeles and served as the Coach of the West in the East/West All-Star Games in 2004 and 2005.  Tom has coaching experience outside of footy ranging from a youth coach to an assistant coach with the semi-professional football Colorado Titans.  Tom brings over seven years of experience playing and coaching footy in the United States.  Tom will be an invaluable asset regarding player development for the Revolution squad.  Coach Lovitt is very excited to have a chance to work with a coach of Tom’s experience and reputation.

Mick Ablett:  Mick currently serves as a player and the head coach of the Las Vegas Gamblers, the 2006 Division III champions.  Prior to moving to the United States, Mick had extensive playing experience in Australia.  He holds the record for the most ‘best and fairest’ awards at Frankston Football Club (VFL).  He has served as the All-Australian under 16’s team vice captain against Ireland in the International Rules series.  Mick was twice an All-Victorian selection while at Frankston (VFL) and has represented Victoria against Western Australia.  Mick was a player for Head Coach Lovitt while both were at Frankston.  Mick has quickly helped to develop a strong club in Las Vegas and looks forward to working with the best American players towards an International Cup in 2008.  Coach Lovitt is excited to work once again with Mick, who he described as the best and smartest player he ever coached.

Jason Becker:  Jason Becker began playing footy with the Milwaukee Bombers (USAFL) in 1999. In 2000, he became the center-half-forward for the American Revolution, where he played for three years, representing the USA in 10 international matches. In Melbourne in 2002, Jason kicked the first ever goal in International Cup history. During his career with the Bombers, Jason's on and off field leadership helped the team grow. With the Bombers, he played in USAFL Grand Finals in Divisions III, II and I.  Jason is currently the Head Coach of the Minnesota Freeze, a team that won the USAFL Division III title in 2005 while playing in their first tournament as a full squad. Only a year later, the Freeze finished the season as Division II runners-up. Coach Lovitt is pleased to welcome Jason back to the American Revolution as Assistant Coach.
