Aug 26, 2010 AFL takes Footy to China
The Victorian Government has welcomed a new deal that will see AFL football televised into China, showcasing our national game and our state’s world-class sporting stadiums. Premier John Brumby today joined AFL Chief Executive Andrew Demetriou at Melbourne's Etihad Stadium to announce the landmark deal that will see Victoria’s indigenous game beamed into China by Shanghai Media Group (SMG) on International Channel Shanghai (ICS). Aug 11, 2010 IC2011 Set for Divisions and Women's Comp The AFL is planning to host the next International Cup in August 2011 in Melbourne, Sydney and probably the Gold Coast or Brisbane. For the first time in Cup history the competing nations will be split into divisions. The AFL has told potential competitors that "IC11 will be run across multiple divisions - to be determined by the final number of entrants". That suggests that if there are enough teams there could even be three separate divisions. Read more » |

Earlier this month the USA Revolution Under 23 team traveled to Toronto, Canada, to take on the Canadian Northwind Under 23 team in what will hopefully be the first of many representative junior development games held in North America.Pages
