2020 USAFL Members Shirt

We are proud to introduce the USAFL 2020 Member T-Shirt.

The T-Shirt pays homage to one of the most successful men’s players in USAFL history, Alexander Aurrichio. Alexander lost his life in a tragic accident while riding his bike in Darwin Australia earlier this year.

The T-Shirt design features Alexander’s silhouette that is taken from a photo of Alexander in action at the 2014 USAFL National Championships when he led the New York Magpies to their second Nationals title.

The USAFL worked with Alexander’s family on the design as a tribute to his determination, passion, and legacy as an inspiration to us all. The shirt slogan ‘We will bounce back’ captures the essence of who Alexander was. While this year has been extremely challenging on so many levels, Alexander would be the first one to get back up and keep moving forward. That is how he lived his life, he never let anything, or anyone deter him from pursuing his dream. He put everything he had into becoming a professional athlete and he worked towards his goal every day.

Alexander’s football journey began in February 2014 when he started working with the USAFL and New York Magpies in preparation for the AFL’s US combine in April. At the combine, he immediately demonstrated his natural athleticism, but it was his leadership that set him apart.  He brought the group of 20 strangers together, uniting them as a team that challenged and cheered each other on.

Shortly after the combine Alexander began his USAFL career with the New York Magpies. It was with the Magpies that he learned the ins and outs of the game and his love for the game was nurtured. That year he played an integral role in New York’s run to the title, which turned out to be just the beginning of a remarkable football career.

The next stop for Alexander was the Victorian Football League (VFL) with the Northern Blues. His hunger to learn, work ethic, professional approach and desire to be the best made an immediate impression on his coaches and teammates. He was named captain making him the first American to be a captain of a VFL club.

From there, Alexander’s football journey took him to stops playing in the SANFL at South Adelaide, then on to the NEAFL playing for the Southport Sharks and for the last two years in the NTFL playing for Waratah. He was planning to play for the USAFL Revolution at this year’s International Cup and would of no doubt been a dominant force. At every stop along the way he made a positive impact and brought the best out in his teammates.  Throughout the USAFL and Australian Football communities that Alexander touched, he will always be remembered for inspiring us all to reach our greatest potential.
