2017 Calgary Australian Football Club Exemption Request for Matthew Williams

Player:
Matthew Williams
Exemption Type:
Eligibility Points
Reason:
Matt was with us for the 2015 season, playing Stampede Cup, Capital Cup, Metro games and US Nationals. Unfortunately he couldn’t find consistent work and returned to Australia in 2016, however sat out the Footy season as he was applying for jobs in Calgary and intending to return when he found a job. He returned to Calgary in 2017 on a new work permit and played Stampede Cup (USAFL), but still couldn’t lock down consistent work with the price of oil languishing around $40 a barrel and office vacancy at record high of 20% in our recession hit economy. He’s got some winter prospects though and is back for the Ski-season, but only played the one USAFL game for us (no games in 2016 for anyone and a full year for us in 2015).
League Ruling
Restrictions:
Division IV
Status:
Granted
Reason:
Only 1 game with Calgary in 2017 and significant activity in Australia in 2017. Division IV.
