US v Canada

The U.S. Australian football national team the Revolution tries to maintain its perfect record against the Canadian national team the Northwind at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 2, 2003 at the South Park Fairgrounds at the corner of Corrigan Drive and Brownsville Road in Library, Pa. (just south of Pittsburgh).

Saturday will showcase the best of Australian football in North America, with the international test match at 1 p.m. followed by a match pitting Australians who live in the United States against those who live in Canada. In addition, the Revolution will hold a practice session from 2-4 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 1, 2003 at the Fairgrounds, followed immediately by the Northwind.

The United States Australian Football League would like to invite all interested to come out to the Fairgrounds this weekend for what are sure to be two close and intense contests.

The United States is 4-0 all-time against Canada, with the Revolutions last win coming in August 2002 at the International Cup in Melbourne, Australia. U.S. coach Scott Nicholas is expecting a close match this time around.

We have a lot of new players as we build a squad for our 2005 International Cup campaign, and we expect the Canadians greater experience to be a telling factor, Nicholas said. Weve also managed to eek out a couple of close victories in the past [against Canada], and with the game being within driving distance of most of the Canadian players, Im sure theyll be bringing a strong team determined to knock us off on our home soil.
