USFooty Welcomes University Sports Medicine

The Division of Sports Medicine (University Sports Medicine) at the SUNY Downstate Medical Center was created to serve the boroughs of Brooklyn, Queens, and Staten Island by providing personalized comprehensive medical care to the athletic community. The goal of University Sports Medicine goes beyond the treatment of the injured athlete by addressing all their medical needs.


We offer a close working relationship with our sports medicine staff, certified athletic trainers, physical therapists and orthopaedic surgeons. We offer complete care for the athlete, from pre-participation physical exams to state-of-the-art arthroscopic surgery, to the rehabilitation of injuries. As the official Sports Medicine providers for Brooklyn College, Polytechnic University, SUNY Maritime College, Kingsborough Community College, Brooklyn Aces, and with our new relationship with USFooty our experience working with recreational and elite athletes make us the leading provider of sports medicine services in the Borough.  We are dedicated to keeping athletes optimally performing in their sport by working closely with their teams, coaches and parents.


 


As our relationship with USFooty continues to grow, we hope to provide not only elite level medical care, but create quality research and training programs that will help USFooty solidify itself as a leader in Australian Rules Football.  We will be conducting research into the epidemiology and mechanics of Footy injuries as well as work to develop sport specific training programs for the national and club level teams.  Our renowned sports medicine staff with contribute monthly injury and training tips for the USFooty news letter and coordinate medical care for the national team.
