Nationals Umpires Needed

The USAFL will be culminating its 10th Anniversary with our Nationals Championship to be held in Louisville, Kentucky on the weekend of October 12-14.

The National Championship brings together players and fans of Aussie Rules from around to USA. This year we anticipate 32 teams to compete across 4 men’s divisions and one women’s division. And over 70% of the players are American. It is truly a celebration of the sport.

One of the challenges of holding such a large tournament in a foreign country is the availability of high qualified umpires. We would like to invite umpires from around Australia to participate in our Nationals. While we are not in the position to pay for travel (we will help defray accommodation cost for the weekend in Louisville) it really is a fantastic experience. We had had guest umpires who have made the trip before and have thoroughly enjoyed it. It is also a great way for Leagues in Australia to support their best referees.

And if you are unable to join us this year then please consider coming over in 2008 when the Nationals will be held in Colorado Springs. The date has yet to be released but it will be during one of the first two weekends of October.
