WHEN Mike Pyke told his mother that he was moving from France to Australia to further his football career, she was not totally surprised. The Canadian rugby international had played in Edinburgh for two years before joining French club side US Montauban, and so the move to Sydney did not seem unusual.

Changes at the USAFL executive board

As the USAFL looks to a successful 2009 season the Executive Board is taking on a new look.


Member at Large since November 2007, James Waddell, will now officially take over as the League's Office Manager. Alistair (Al) MacGlashan will take over as Member at Large.

USAFL Office update

The USAFL Office will be closed from March 9th to March 31st as we transition to the new Office Manager. In the meantime USAFL Board Member James Waddell will be handling urgent enquires as will President Rich Mann.

San Diego Metro Tournament

The San Diego Lions will be hosting a 6 team metro tournament on May 16.  There are already 3 spots filled so there's room for 3 more teams.  This is a one day tournament which will split the teams into 2 pools.  The winner of each pool will play off for a final to crown the tournament winner.  So each team is guaranteed 2 games with 2 of the teams playing 3 games on the day.

SCAFL Fundraiser for Australian Bushfire Victims

The Southern California Australian Football League (SCAFL) is hosting a charity exhibition match this Sunday, February 22, in Santa Monica CA, in aid of victims of the recent bushfires in Victoria.

The SCAFL is the organizing body of Australian Rules Football in the greater Los Angeles area, which is made up of 4 clubs that compete in a local 9-a-side competition.

Those clubs; Riverside Raiders, LA Swans, Beachside Sharks and the OC Jets, combine to form the Orange County Bombers in National 18-a-side matches.
