2023 AFL Grand Final Watch Parties

Australia loves its sport.  It loves its parties.  And it knows how to throw on a sport party. 

The Women's World Cup was a blast from beginning to end, rugby and cricket are always events, and even tournaments and championships at the local level are full of the flavor that comes with it.

But there isn't quite anything like the AFL Grand Final.  Pageantry, tradition, buzz, you name it.  Every year since 1898 (barring 1924 for reasons you can google), the league champions have been decided by the one ultimate game.

It's grown from humble beginnings in front of a few thousand hearty spectators to a massive happening attended by 100,000 lucky spectators at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.  And there's even a public holiday in Victoria now to help soak it all in.

This year, the top two teams in the competition will do battle in one final showdown.  American Mason Cox helps lead the Collingwood Magpies into their 44th Grand Final, in search of a record-tying 16th premiership and first since 2010.  The Brisbane Lions, fronted among others by Charlie Cameron won their only three premierships on the trot between 2001 and 2003, the last two over the 'Pies.  Who will triumph?

You don't have to have a ticket to the MCG to join in the merriment.  You don't even have to be in Australia.  You can get into the game right here in the good ol' USA by watching it with one of our many grass roots clubs.  Each year, many of our teams pack parties large and small to watch the season come to its exciting zenith, and 2023 will be no exception.

And, as in previous years, many USAFL clubs will be hosting watch parties for the big game, offering everything from Aussie delectables to giveaways to fun and games and music in the lead-up to the final showdown.  So whether you're a local footy fan or an Australian just passing through the USA on holiday, come out and support your local USAFL club with fellow fans such as yourself and make some new mates in the process!

Below is a listing of USAFL hosted watch parties across the USA listed in alphabetical order by host city.  The list will be constantly updated up until the day of the big game, so keep checking back.

The AFL Grand Final is scheduled for 12:30am EDT on Saturday, September 30th (9:30pm PDT on Friday, September 29th).  Unless noted, all parties will begin on Friday, September 29th.

Some parties require tickets to be purchased ahead of time due to limited capacity, and some have specific venue guidelines (age limit, alcohol cutoff times, COVID restrictions, etc).  Be sure to check your party's event page and/or message the host club with any questions.

Can't make it out?  The AFL Grand Final will be available on WatchAFL, who will carry the pregame festivities starting at 10:30pm EDT.  Fox Sports 1 will begin coverage right before the game at around 12:24am.
