2016 AFL Grand Final Viewing Parties

From its humble beginnings as the final match of the 1898 VFL season, to the grand spectacle that is planned for this year's edition, the AFL Grand Final has become the most anticipated event of the Australian sports calendar. After six months of play, eighteen teams will have been whittled down to just two to fight it out at the Melbourne Cricket Ground to determine who will be crowned AFL Premiers for season 2016.
This year's match features the Sydney Swans squaring up against the Western Bulldogs. The Swans, led by the meteroic Lance Franklin and Brownlow Medal runner up Luke Parker are in their 17th Grand Final, looking for their 6th Premiership. The Bulldogs, meanwhile, are led by exciting Marcus Bontempelli and the dangerous Tom Liberatore, and are in just their 3rd Grand Final match in 92 seasons of VFL-AFL football, their first since 1961. They are in search of their second flag, their first one famously coming in 1954.
As in past years, many USAFL clubs will be hosting viewing parties to celebrate the best the sport has to offer, while at the same time raising money for their clubs. Whether you're a player, a footy fan, or an Australian ex-pat passing through the USA, support your local with some friends -- old and new -- and enjoy one of the greatest nights in world sport.
