Need an Exemption?

Club Administrators may now apply for player exemptions via the League Management System (LMS). Clubs are encouraged to submit exemptions as early as possible - this will allow board members ample time to review requests and process them prior to Nationals. All requests should be submitted no later than October 11. Requests received at Nationals may be reviewed on a a case-by-case basis.

Submitting an Exemption Request

Club Admin should log in and click on Create Exemption Request from the admin menu. They will be asked for the following information:

  • Player:  select the appropriate player from the list of their active club members.
  • Exemption Type: Nationals Eligibility or Nationality.
Nationals Eligibility is for players that have not earned 6 Nationals Eligibility Points and you believe there are sufficient extenuating circumstances to warrant an exemption.
Nationality exemptions are for people that were born outside of the US or Canada and you believe they should be treated as a National for USAFL purposes. Some examples may be people who are US citizens by birth even though they were born outside of the US (e.g by parentage)
  • Reason: Please provide the reasons that you believe the requested exemptions should be granted.

You should also indicate if the player will be competing in Division Four or the Women's Division as the league is generally more lenient in granting eligibility exemptions for those divisions.

PLEASE NOTE: Exemption requests are public and can viewed at the Exemption Requests link on the website.  As such, please be careful in posting personal information such as birth dates, etc.

Viewing Exemption Requests

You can view exemption requests for a particular club by going to that clubs page (aka https://usafl.com/clubs/columbus) and then clicking on the Exemptions tab.

All exemption requests can be viewed at the Exemption Requests link in the left menu.  This will display all submitted exemptions and allows them to be filtered by club or status

For each exemption it lists the date of the submission, the player (links to the players match history), the player's nationality, the exemption request type, the status of the request, restrictions, and a link to view the detailed submission.

The status field will have the following values:

  • Blank: Waiting for review
  • Pending:  Under review
  • Granted: the request has been approved
  • Denied: the request has been denied

Restrictions contain divisional restrictions that the exemption applies to.  For example, an eligibility exemption may be granted for Division Four.  This player will be eligible for only Division Four games at Nationals.

Do you have feedback?

If you are a Club Administrator and are viewing a detailed request, there is an add comment link where you can provide feedback to the league if you have any information that you feel will help the league decide to grant or deny the request.
