2013 Columbus ARFC Exemption Request for Shawn Furlong

Player:
Shawn Furlong
Exemption Type:
Eligibility Points
Reason:
Shawn moved to Bermuda earlier this year due to a new job offer, but has continued to be a part of the Jackaroos. He was elected President of the club for the 2013 season, but had to step down due to the move. Regardless, he has continued to help the team off the field throughout the year and deserves to represent the Jackaroos at Nationals. Shawn had every intention to participate in games this season with the Jackaroos despite his out of country posting. However, due to factors out of his control this has not come to fruition. Shawn had booked his flights and hotel to Wisconsin for the tournament that was originally scheduled for July 20th. That tournament was cancelled last minute and not only did Shawn lose out on the money he already spent, but he also was not able to gain the expected number of points towards Nationals. He most recently represented the Revos in the 49th Parallel Cup and we believe he deserves to be awarded points towards his Nationals eligibility. Shawn does not belong to another Aussie Rules team and has registered for Nationals as a Jackaroo.
