USA vs Canada Writeup

The US National Australian Rules football team, the American Revolution,
extended their winning record over Canada to 3-0 on the 30th July 2000 at
Centennial Park in Toronto, Canada, with a solid 25 point win in a
rain-affected match.

The US team was made up of 25 American Citizens, representing 13 of the
USAFL affiliated clubs. The team was co-captained by Ron Miller from
Chicago (the only player to have played in all three internationals), and
Deron Lien from Inland Empire. Both Deron and Ron had been co-captains in
1999.

AFL Player Scholarship

We have arranged for the US's best (must have no Aussie ties) player for 2000 to spend two weeks at Essendon (the 2000 Premiers) in the early part of 2001.

USAFL will fund the entire trip (except for food and spending money) and the player will be billetted out to an Essendon player, train with the club, under the guidance of legendary coach, Kevin Sheedy, and will hopefully participate in an intraclub scrimmage match. The recipient of this scholarship will be announced soon after the National Tournament (the player will not necessarily be the National Tournament MVP).

2000/2001 International Games

The USAFL is aiming to send our National team to Europe for a Tournament in
England in mid 2001. Following this, we will be sending our National Team
to the International Cup in Melbourne in 2002.

As a heads up, eligible players must be US born and bred citizens. It's very important to us as a League to show case to the rest of the world the awesome players we have here and to prove we are truly an American League (and not just a bunch of ex pat Aussies having a kick of the footy which is an all too common perception of Inetrnaional Leagues).

Footy trip to Australia

To all Australian Rules Football Clubs in the United States:

I hope that everyone is preparing earnestly for the National Titles in
October. I'm sure looking forward to seeing everyone in L.A. and hoping
that
it will be a fun weekend with plenty of high standard football games.
Aussie
Rules is certainly growing rapidly in this country, with the hard work
already done by so many people, we have already achieved so much more than
I
think many people would have thought! Let's keep up the great work.

Nationals Update

The CAFL and USAFL would like to formally announce that there has been a change of venue for the 2000 National Tournament. It will still be held in Los Angeles on the 14th & 15th October but is no longer at Van Nuys.

Because we were forced to change the venue we have also had to change hotels. Please do not make any more bookings with Airtel and contact me as soon as possible to obtain information on how to cancel your existing reservation if you have one.

Following are the new Venue and Hotel details:

MAAFL Results

The Nashville Kangaroos played their best football of the season in defeating the St. Louis Blues in St. Louis on Saturday September 16th. The MAAFL Championship was on the line and a St. Louis win would give Chicago the title. The St. Louis Blues had gone from a slow start to the season to be ranked number eight in the country and all hinged on this final game.

Grand Final Festival

"G'day Y'all" - Australian Festival here in Nashville - Sept 30th - Oct 1st

The Nashville Kangaroos are proud to present the 4th Annual Australian Grand Final Festival - now recognized as the largest Australian Festival in North America. (NO ADMISSSION CHARGE).

Nationals gearing up

G'day everyone,
Just to let everyone know it's all full steam ahead for the
2000 nationals. Will Boston win their third successive Title?, will Santa Cruz break their
drought?, will someone else upset the top two teams from 98 and 99? Who knows?,
it will definitely be an interesting weekend of footy.

From my point of view, and the entire USAFL Board, we eagerly await the
Nationals as it's the culmination for us for a year of hard work.We will also
be hosting Dr. Ross Smith, Head of Game Development for the AFL.
