New York City Metro League Preview

This Saturday the New York City Metro League kicks off with Round 1 at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx. Round One sees the Hudson River Rats playing the men from Long Island, the Suburban Tollmen.  In the second game, the Village Bohemians play the Times Square Tourists in the battle for Manhattan bragging rights.

Last Saturday’s New York’s Metroleague Draft saw Shane Batty go as the Number 1 pick to the Village Bohemians.  The Hudson River Rats selected rover Toby Dymond with the second pick, while the Times Square Tourists selected big-man Matt Smith with the third pick overall.  Reigning champions Suburban Tollman had the fourth pick and took Brooklyn native Jimmy Polulach.

This season brings an exciting Metro League schedule with six games during April and July, and the Championship game on August 5.  All games will be held in the Bronx, with the exception of July 15 which will be held at Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, New Jersey.
