Players Encouraged to Sign Up for Revolution Game

I would like to thank USFooty for appointing me as the Head Coach for the next Revolution game.  I have been with the Revolution as a player since 2000 and it has been the highlight of my athletic career.  Over that time I have played all over the USA, Toronto, London and Melbourne.   I participated in 19 of the 21 games played.  During that time Matt Dainauski was along for every step.  I am proud to have him as my assistant for the game coming up in LA in January.

I would encourage any USA player that has interest in representing their Country in the next International Cup in 2008 to register to play in the upcoming event.  This is the first step in going to Melbourne and bringing home the Cup.  Everyone who wants to play must register for the game and also sign up for the Coaches Course on Saturday.  Any player under the age of 24 is encouraged to join the AFL tryout on the Friday.  The Swans will also be taking part in that tryout. What a fantastic opportunity to be able to go for a run with the World Champions!

At Nationals this year in Milwaukee I was asked by a reporter what it meant to play for the Revolution.  I expressed to him how proud I was to play for the USA and what an incredible feeling it was to pull on the Red, White and Blue.  He then asked how the team name 'Revolution' was picked.  To tell you the truth I had never given it much thought up until that point.

“Revolution: A Revolution is a relatively sudden and absolutely drastic change.  Some Revolutions are led by the majority of the populace of a nation, and others by a small band of Revolutionaries.”

We are the small band of Revolutionaries that are going to make a drastic change in this great sport we love.  Whether that means here in the USA or on world scale is up to you.
