The Chance of a Lifetime

The USAFL is pleased to announce a fantastic weekend for all Australian Rules Football Fans in the USA during January 13-15, 2006 in Los Angeles, California. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for every member of the USAFL to be part of footy history.

On Friday, January 13, we will be conducting a one-day Football Camp, similar to the AFL Draft Camp, and conducted under the auspices of the AFL.  Players will be tested in fitness and skills on this day, and will have a chance to demonstrate their abilities in front of the AFL and members of the two AFL teams that will be in Los Angeles.

On Friday night, there will be opportunities to participate in a number of social activities, including a traditional Pie Night or a Gala dinner.  The USAFL web site will be offering packages from the USAFL and both AFL clubs.  Stay tuned for further details.

On Saturday, January 14, the USAFL will conduct the first National Players and Coaches Conference.  The coaches of the Swans (Paul Roos) and the Kangaroos (Dean Laidley) will be presenters at this course, along with other members of the coaching staff and players from both clubs. This day will be practical and there will be a chance to listen to the best and ask questions.  Be sure not to miss this chance to be coached by the professionals.

We will also be holding an Umpires Course with the AFL umpires who will be participating in the Sunday night game, and any umpires or potential umpires can attend these sessions.

US Footy kids will also be running clinics in the week leading up to the game.

All details will be released next week.

The culmination of the weekend will be on Sunday, January 17, with the Swans playing the Kangaroos.

The Swans are the 2005 AFL premiers, and they will be playing the Kangaroos, who finished 5th and played in the AFL Finals this season.

The pre-match to the main game will feature the United States National Team—the Revolution. The Revolution will challenge an Australian All-Comers team from within the USAFL, in what is sure to be an exciting contest.  All players selected to this team will wear a specially made jumper for the event.   Clubs should follow the web site details to nominate Australian players for this game. ALL DETAILS regarding applications and who will be coaching these teams will be on the web site next week.

If you wish to be part of this extraordinary weekend, please follow the directions that will be issued next week, and get on board as soon as possible.
