Prime Minister Gillard meets with the New York Magpies

During her recent trip to the USA, the Prime Minister of Australia, Julia Gillard, dropped in to pay a visit to to the New York Magpies at thier sponsor pub, The Australian in Manhattan, NY. The purpose of her visit in New York was to thank the Australian expat community for their fundraising efforts for the recent flood victims of Australia.
The Prime Minister not only shared a beer with The Australian’s owner and New York Magpies supporter, Matt Astill, but she also conversed with a group of the New York Magpies players discussing the Magpies 2010 National Tournament Championship, Australian Football in the USA and she was also presented with a USA Freedom jumper by Freedom player, Andrea Casillas.
The Magpies also presented the Prime Minister with her own New York Magpies Guernsey and she even held up the National Championship trophy.
