2013 Los Angeles Dragons Exemption Request for John-Paul Culgan

Player:
John-Paul Culgan
Exemption Type:
Eligibility Points
Reason:
John Paul (or JP as he’s known at the club) has been living in LA for several years. His first game with us was on July 20 against Golden Gate. He was not registered at the time and thus did not earn points. Though he enjoyed the game, he was cautious about fully committing to playing as he was only doing freelance work and had no insurance. He continued to train with our club, but did not participate in any of the games. Recently, JP got a full time position with benefits, so he’s decided to fully join the Dragons. He recently played in our game against San Diego (9/29) and internal match (9/22). He will be playing in our game against OC this weekend (10/5) and will participate in our last internal match on 10/13. Had he been registered in time, JP would have amassed 8 points. However, because he was late to commit due to insurance concerns, he will only have 5 points by the time Nationals arrives. We respectfully ask that the USAFL allow JP to play for the LA Dragons division 2 side at Nationals, bearing in mind that: A) Had he registered before his 1st game, he would easily have enough points to qualify B) He is a permanent LA resident and not some fly by night ringer C) He will merely be 1 point short by Nationals
